Nomination for Lions Youth of the Year

Tuesday 25 Feb

Congratulations to April Druery who was our school's nomination for the Lions Youth of the Year. Youth of the Year is designed to encourage student interest in leadership and the qualities required to take an active and constructive role in the community. A high level of academic, leadership, sporting, public speaking and citizenship achievement is sought in its potential winners.

On Saturday April took part in the 40min interview where she answered questions on Climate Change, impact of technology on young people and her perspective of changes needed in education.

The next step for April is a 2 minute impromptu Q&A and a 5 speech on a topic of her choice in front of an audience, this Thursday evening, 6.30pm for a 7pm start. There will be three other students making speeches, so the entire event should take approximately 30-40mins.

April will be competing against three other applicants, one from Sylvania, Wooolooware and Caringbah High School. We wish her the best!
