Emergency Procedures In some situations it may be necessary to act swiftly to deal with emergencies. This may involve evacuating the school. In some circumstances it may be necessary to remain in classrooms until further notice or until the immediate danger ceases to exist. It may also be necessary in certain emergencies for all students and staff to seek the safety of an isolation indoor area or space until the emergency has passed. The following Emergency Procedures are included in the student diaries and displayed in classrooms. Emergency drills will be practised each year to assist students and teachers to become familiar with the procedures. | Emergency Procedures | Know Your Bells | One Continuous Bell – Evacuate Evacuate the buildings and go to the school oval. Quickly gather belongings. Follow the red arrow, evacuation direction signs. Close the doors as you leave. Assemble on the oval and sit down in roll call classes facing the school. | Three Long Bells – Assembly School Assembly in the quadrangle Line up in roll call groups. | Three Long Bells Repeated – Emergency Assembly Emergency assembly necessary. Staff and students move swiftly to Quadrangle and line up in normal roll call groups. Follow directions given by assembly chairperson. | Six Short Bells – Stay Where You Are Close and lock all classroom doors and windows and remain in rooms until further notice. Head Teachers to close and lock external doors. All Clear signal – Six short bells. No further bells after all clear – Carry on as normal. Three long bells after all clear – School assembly in the quadrangle. | Classroom Hazard Evacuate all students away from the immediate danger. Close all doors as you leave and take a class roll. Notify the Deputy or Principal of the emergency. (Send two messengers) Take a roll call and advise the Deputy or Principal of any missing students. |
