COMMUNITY CHOIR

The Community Choir formed in 2007 with 16 students, 9 staff and 2 parent members. The choir performed at various school events throughout the year and at Marrickville High School’s ‘
Connecting Diversity Day’. The student members of the choir successfully auditioned for inclusion in the 2007 Schools Spectacular Combined Choir, which is a great achievement for a novice group. Students from our choir have also represented Cronulla High at State Senior Music Camp and in Sing NSW. In 2008 the choir has grown considerably and continues to achieve performance success.

The choir rehearses after school on a weekly basis and studies music through various choral
traditions  (including a Capella and S.A.T.B. harmony work that encompasses popular and traditional music from both Western and non-Western cultures). No experience is necessary to join the choir – a love of singing is the only prerequisite.

The choir is currently preparing to tour with the Concert Band to Rotorua in 2009 to participate in the International Youth Music Festival.
